If you haven't gotten a white/red hat then you will need to get one pretty soon.  They are $20.  I know money is tight right now, and it is close to Christmas, so if you need to wait and buy one after we get back from the break that is fine.  If money is an issue then come talk to me and we'll work something out. We start up with after school practices toward the end of January and have our first scrimmage the first Monday in February so you will need one by then.  BLACK hats are for VARSITY players only.  the only exception that will be made will be for players that might be moved up early in the season because we will be without a few players because of basketball.

Monday Offseason Workout

Here is the plan for this week:

MONDAY:

Surgery Update

Well, I made it through surgery and I am in room 303 at Jack and Jane Hamilton Heart and Vascular Hospital.  My rib is gone and I am in a great deal of pain but I have some good pain medication to help me tolerate it.

White Hats Are In

Our new white hats are in and they are $20.  They are pretty much the same as last year.  We switched brands and went with Proline since they are a big sponsor of Texas High School Baseball. They are wool hats and the LH are thicker than last years so it does look just a little bit different.

I am still waiting on the black hats and they should be in soon.  The black hats are for Varsity players only and will be $20 as well.

Also, I will be out of school all of next week.  I am having surgery Monday morning for Thoracic Outlet Syndrome and it will require me to spend at least 1 night in the hospital.  Usually people don't go back to work after this surgery for about 2-3 weeks but I'm going to try to be out only one week if I can tolerate the pain.

If you are wondering what Thoracic Outlet Syndrome is then here it is in a nutshell:  The nerves and veins that travel down my arm to my hands and fingers are getting pinched just under my collar bone causing me to lose feeling in my hand and inner arm.  In order to create more room for the nerves and veins the doctor is going to have to remove my first rib and detatch part of my scalene muscle.

Week of September 24

Since the district is supposed to be seeding our field this week, we will be in the weight room and on the track this week.  I'm not sure what coach Brown's plans are at the moment but I figure he will take a few more days off.

Also, if anyone is interested, my daughter's soccer team (Andromeda FC-02 Girls)is selling sonic cards with coupons on the back for $5 each.  My daughter, and a few of her teammates, are also selling pajamas as a fundraiser.  The girls keep 40% of  sales to help offset their individual cost of club dues.

Blog Is Up And Running Again

I'm going to start updating the blog a couple of times a week from now until baseball season.

Update on on Coach Brown:  surgery went well and he is at home but in quite a bit of pain but that is to be expected.  He said he is going to try to come back to work next week.

AREA ROUND OF PLAYOFFS

We will be playing Temple High School in the Area Round of the playoffs.

Game 1:  AT Temple at 7:30 ----- we will wear black jerseys and white pants and black hat.  We are going to leave school between 1:30-1:45.  The boys will be getting out of class after 4th period.  They can bring some snacks but they will need to clean their own mess.  When we get there we will hit in their cages to get ready.  After the game, we are planning on stopping by a Whataburger so the boys can eat dinner  We will probably be back home between midnight and 1:00am.

Game 2: AT LHHS at 1:00 ---- we will be wearing all white.  Temple is going to take batting practice from 11:30-12:10.  We will take batting practice from 10:30-11:15.


Game 3: AT LHHS (if needed) at 3:00 ---- if there is a need for a game 3 then it will be about 30 minutes after the first game.  We will just stay in our white uniforms for this game.

PLAYOFFS - ROUND 2 - AREA

Our schedule has been set and we will be playing Temple High School. 


Game 1:  FRIDAY -- AT Temple High ---7:30

Game 2:  SATURDAY -- AT LHHS --- 1:00

Game 3:  SATURDAY (IF NEEDED) --- AT LHHS --- 3:00

Thursday's Leave Time

We will be leaving on Thursday at 6:00pm for our game against Mckinney Boyd.  We will take BP during our regular 7th period and I will let you go around 4:15 so you can get a bite to eat and cool off before we leave.

I forgot to mention that jersey colors were decided at the meeting the other day in order to create less confusion.

Correction to Monday

I apparently looked at the old schedule and we do have athletics today so the Varsity and JV Black will practice until 4:30 today. MONDAY

Because of the schedule for after TAKS testing we will not have 7th period tomorrow therefor we will not practice tomorrow. Everyone will have the day off. We will try to do something on Tuesday since we will have 7th period athletics.

I am going to go out to the field during my lunch and check on it.  I should know more by 1:30-2:00.

JV-RED

JV-Red----your season is now over.  I saw a lot of good things from you guys even though the record wasn't good.  I wasn't worried about your record.  I was wanting to see growth and development and I saw that.  Now, I need to get your uniforms back ASAP (jersey and pants-if you got pants).  You guys that play football will need to give your stuff either today or tomorrow because you are to be back in football offseason by tomorrow or Thursday.  Those of you not in football will remain with us until 4:10 every day and you will be expected to continue working out with the JV-Black and Varsity until it is time for you to be dismissed.  If you have any questions let me know.

FRIDAY:  VARSITY- plays Sunset at Reverchon Park at 7:00.  We will leave at 5:45.

                  Both JV teams will have practice.



SATURDAY:  

JV-RED ---- you will be playing at Mckinney Boyd at 10:00 and 12:00.  The bus leaves at 8:30



JV-BLACK ---- you will play Berkner at 11:00 and need to be at the field by 10:00.



VARSITY ---- we will play Berkner after the JV-BLACK game and it should start around 1:00.  Be at the field by 11:45.

TUESDAY

JV-RED---you are playing at Burleson Centennial Today at 6:00. The bus will be leaving at 3:30. JV-BLACK---you will have practice with coach Brown until 4:30 today. VARSITY---we are playing at W. T. White today at 5:00. Our bus will leave at 3:45.

VARSITY

I hope you have all had a good weekend. Tomorrow (MONDAY) we need to practice even if we just hit in the cage so we will start at NOON and go until around 2:00. I know it is raining now so I will keep you posted about tomorrow. We need to start going over W.T. White because they are now 5-3 in district and have their starters back that they were missing when we played them the first time. Also, Sunset has now started making a push and playing really good baseball and we have them on Friday and then play Berkner on Saturday. We need 10 wins to comfortably assure us a spot in the playoffs and we currently have 7. Let's get to 10 by the end of this week! Hudson will pitch against W.T. White.

THURSDAY

VARSITY-----We play Samuell at 7:00 at Pleasant Grove stadium.  We will be leaving at 5:30.  Early hitting will start at 4:45.  We will wear gray pants, red jersey, and red hat.



JV BLACK AND RED------You will have practice until 5:00 tomorrow.  We will hit in the cage and do some defensive situations.

WEDNESDAY

JV RED----your game is up in the air at the moment. I don't know I'd our field will dry out quick enough for your game since it has rained so late in the afternoon/evening. JV BLACK----there will be no game against Richardson for you guys. That is RISD policy about not making up sub varsity games if they get cancelled. VARSITY----we will play Richardson tomorrow at 6:00. The bus will leave at 4:45. Early hitting will start at 4:00. We will still wear white pants, black jersey, and black hat. Reed is still the scheduled starting pitcher. Let's get after them tomorrow and end the first half of district 6-1!

Varsity game has been cancelled. We will make it up tomorrow at 6:00. There will be NO JV game tomorrow.

We will have regular practice today. 3:45 to 4:45 -- live BP and cage work 4:45 to 5:30 -- defensive work

Friday AND Saturday

Friday: JV RED -- playing at home against Rockwall at 6:00. Be at the field by 4:45. JV BLACK -- come out like normal and hit in the cage until 4:10 and then you may leave. VARSITY -- we play at Skyline at 4:30 and the bus will leave no later than 3:45. SATURDAY: JV RED -- plays at Skyline at 9:00am. Bus leaves school at 7:45. JV BLACK -- plays at Skyline at 11:00am. Bus leaves the school at 9:30.

WEDNESDAY

JV RED -  Today you will just hit in the cage until 4:10.



JV BLACK - Your game starts at 5:00 so you need to be here around 3:45-4:00



VARSITY - Our game will start after the JV BLACK game around 7:00 so you need to be there around 5:45.

MONDAY

Today we will get back to a normal practice. 


Also, this week when we play Jesuit we are having "Sadie's Night" and will be raising money for Sadie Bono, a 3 year old girl that lives in the Lake Highlands area who has a condition known as Pfeiffer Syndrome.  Here is a little more information about Sadie:

Sadie is a smart, funny three year old.  She is cognitively normal and enjoys reading books, playing with puzzles, singing and having dance parties with her sister. 

Sadie has Pfeiffer Syndrome (type I), a genetic skull disorder affecting approximately 1 in 100,000 individuals.   Her skull sutures prematurely fused in the womb causing her face and head to grow abnormally.  Her eyes are normal sized, but she does not have proper bone structure surrounding them causing them to appear large.  Her nasal airways are severely narrowed, making breathing difficult.  Therefore she breathes with the assistance of a tracheostomy tube. 

Because of Sadie’s age, she does not understand her medical condition, although she knows she has a trach and notices that others do not.  Sadie has frequent doctor’s appointments, tests and hospitalizations.  She pretend plays doctor often as this is a huge part of her life.   

Sadie looks different.  She attracts stares and questions most places we go. It is important to our family that people see and like Sadie and others with facial differences just as they are.   The more exposure we bring to facial differences the more understanding our community will be.

TOMORROW (FRIDAY 3-23-2012)

JV RED   You will be playing Burleson Centennial at 6:00 at HOME.  You need to be at the field by 4:45.



JV BLACK  You will be traveling to Berkner and your game will start at 5:00.  The bus will be leaving at 4:45 so if you want to take some cuts before you leave then you will need to be here around 4:00.




VARSITY  We will be playing Berkner at their place at 7:00.  The bus will be leaving at 5:45.  Be at the field to hit in the cages at 5:00.  JV RED will probably be mixed in there with you guys since they have a home game starting at 6:00. 

TODAY

We will try to practice today.  If it is too muddy on the field then we will take ground balls and fly balls in the outfield.  We will also hit in the cages.

PLAY BALL

The Varsity game against Sunset will be Wednesday at 7:00. We will be wearing white pants, black jerseys, and black hats. Be at the field no later than 5:45.

TUESDAY

Well, as you might can guess, our games today have been cancelled. The bad part about this is that the district will NOT allow us to make up the JV BLACK game so when we play Sunset it will be a Varsity game only. Right now I'm not sure if that will be tomorrow or Thursday. I'm going to go out at lunch and see what the field looks like before I make a decision. As for this afternoon, if it isn't raining(too hard)or lightening then we will hit in the cages during practice and probably work on the field. Hopefully I will know by this evening if we will play tomorrow or Thursday.

MONDAY

I hope everyone had nice restful few days off. It is now time to get back to work. JV RED -- you are playing at Mesquite Horn at 4:30 (weather permitting). The bus will leave from it's normal spot at 3:30. VARSITY and JV BLACK we will try to practice if it isn't raining. If the field is too wet we will hit in the cages as long as it's not raining hard or lightening.

!!!URGENT!!!

WT White just informed me that their field is still too wet to play today so we are moving the games to OUR place. Game times will remain the same with the JV BLACK starting at 12:00 and the VARSIY starting at 3:00.

GAMES VS. W.T. WHITE

Because of wet field conditions at W.T. White we decided to push the games back a few hours.  JV BLACK will start at 12:00 and the bus leaves the school at 10:45.  VARSITY will start at 3:00 and the bus will be leaving at 1:45.

THIS WEEK

MONDAY:

JV RED  You will be playing Sunset tomorrow at 10:00AM and you need to be at the field at 9:00AM.


JV BLACK You will be playing Sunset tomorrow as well and your game will start at 12:00 and you need
                     to be at the field at 11:00.


VARSITY  You need to come up to the field at 12:30.  You will hit in the cage until the JV Black game is
                   over.  When they finish we will get on the field and take some in and out.  Pitchers only need
                   to get to the field at 1:30.  All of you will throw a short bullpen of 30-35 pitches.



TUESDAY:

JV RED   You will have the day off since all of the coaches will be with the JV Black and Varsity at
                  W.T. White for a district game.


JV BLACK   You will be playing AT W.T. White at 10:00AM.  If you would like to take some cuts
                       before we leave then you will need to be at the field 8:45.  The bus will be leaving at
                       9:15AM.


VARSITY  We play AT W.T. White at 1:00.  Be at the field at 11:30 to take some cuts.  We
                    will be leaving at 12:15.



WEDNESDAY:

ALL TEAMS   We will be leaving for our game against Rockwall Heath at the Ballpark in Arlington at 3:00.
                         The game starts at 6:00 and we are required to be there 1 1/2 hours before game time.
                         Once we are there only the Varsity will be allowed to take batting practice in the cages
                         under the stadium.  Both JV teams will wear their uniforms and sit in the dugout during the
                         game.  I will have waivers for you and your parents to sign tomorrow at the JV games.
                         These waivers MUST be signed and given back to me before you allowed on the field
                         and in the dugout.


THURSDAY-SATURDAY:

ALL TEAMS:  We will take a break and have no practices or games.  I want you all to get some good
                         rest because when we get back from Spring Break we will be facing some tough teams
                         and I want arms well rested and ready to compete.

JV RED

Your tournament has been cancelled.  There will be no games this weekend,

JV RED Your tournament in Colleyville is scheduled to continue tomorrow and they want to get it in if possible so you will still have a game at 5:00 at Colleyville Heritage High School and your bus will leave at 3:30.

VARSITY  I have made a revised schedule and we will play at 3:00 and 7:30 tomorrow and then we will play on Saturday at 5:45 and 8:00

Next Monday you are scheduled to play Sunset. The games were originally scheduled to be played at their place but due to construction at their school the games have been moved to our field. JV Red you will play the first game at 10:00 AM and JV Black your game will start at Noon.

VARSITY - At the moment I have not had a chance to check our field.  I will check it out at lunch and make a decision then.  JV Black and JV Red your games are still ON as of now.  If anything changes I will post it.  JV BLACK it is already down to 47 degrees in sherman with 25 mph winds out of the north, so I hope you guys brought some warm clothes.

WEDNESDAY GAMES

The TAKS schedule has thrown us off a little bit so the JV Black will be starting at 4:30 today instead of 4:00.  This means that the Varisty game has been pushed back as well and will start at 6:30.

TUESDAY PRACTICE

Tomorrow is TAKS ELA testing, so,  practice will be short per school policy.  Only Seniors will be allowed to stay after 4:30 today.

RANGER TICKETS

Guys, we need Ranger tickets or the money you have got from selling them ASAP....as in today or tomorrow!!!!  Let's get this done!

MONDAY

JV RED - you have a game against Grapevine Faith at 5:00. They do not have a field at their school so here is the physical address to the baseball field you will be playing at. You will leave at 3:30. Oak Grove Ballfield Complex 2520 Oak Grove Loop South Grapevine, TX 76051 JV Black and Varsity - we will have a regular practice tomorrow. We will take live BP, in and out, and pitchers will need to throw a short bullpen session.

THURSDAY (MARCH 1, 2012)

What a great day it will be for baseball with temps in the low 80s!

JV-RED  You guys will meet after school and go through a practice with coach Rogers.  Make sure you get your cuts in the cage!  You have a game at home tomorrow against Jesuit at 6:00 and they will be good so start getting focused on the game now.



JV-BLACK    You guys will be traveling to Duncanville for the first game of your tournament.  You play against Mesquite Poteet at 5:15.  The bus will leave at 3:30 from the cafeteria area at the High School.  Depending on how you do today determmines what time you play tomorrow.



VARSITY  We will be playing in the South Grand Prairie Warrior Classic this weekend and it is a 5 game guarantee so get ready to play a lot of ball.  We play at 2:15 today against Keller Timbercreek.  We will leave school at high noon today and you will ONLY GO TO 1st-3rd PERIODS.  I already have you checked out for 4th-7th periods.  We are wearing gray pants/black shirt/black caps per our starting pitchers request.
